Academics and Programs

Literacy:

We combine several research-based complementary programs that use rich content to  build the decoding and comprehension skills needed for competent reading. 

Mathematics:

Our Mathematics Program emphasizes critical thinking  and depth of understanding to ensure the success of all students.

Science and Social Studies:

Instruction is based on the N Y S Standards.  Literacy is incorporated to help students ground reading, writing, and discussion in evidence from text.

Movement and The Arts:

Classes are programmed to receive at least one of the following: Vocal, Strings, Band, Dance, Visual Arts, Move To Improve, Health, and Physical Education.  

Bilingual Education:

All students, including Kindergarten, receive second language instruction in Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or French. Latin is offered to all fifth and sixth graders

Technology:

A Computer Lab, laptop computers in classrooms, and access from home to many  educational programs and websites.

N. Y. States Regents:

Accelerated Courses are provided. Eighth graders are prepared with Accelerated Courses in H.S. English, Integrated Algebra, Living Environment, Earth Science, as well as the Spanish and French. Preparing them for High School Regents Exams.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) :

A School-Wide College Preparation program.

A Student Leadership program using the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
